Three advantages of a RAW file; The complete (lossless) data from the camera's sensor. Higher in dynamic range (highlights and shadows). Lower in contrast.

One disadvantage to a RAW file; Not as sharp.

Three advantages to a JPEG file; Immediately suitable for printing, sharing, or posting on the web. Sharper. Processed by your camera.

One disadvantage to a JPEG file; Lower in dynamic contrast (highlights and contrasts).
